  • A diver died during search. He did not return to the surface after 4pm on Friday (2nd Nov local time). The diver is Syachrul Anto, age 48. He was found by the Search And Rescue team.
  • Divers has retrieved the flight data recorder / black box
  • Indonesian investigators have heard transponder ‘pings’
  • The aircraft’s flight data recorders are yet to be recovered
  • The flight crew had reported an issue with the plane, the night before (28th October) and repairs were carried out
  • The body of baby has been recovered. No sign of the fuselage
  • Retrieved from the crash site, rescuers have sent 24 body bags containing 10 bodies and other human remains for further identification (DNA testing). DNA samples have been taken from 132 family members.
  • Waters where it sank are up to 30 meters deep. The crash site is about 15 kilometre or 9 miles off the coast. Round-the-clock search is on-going
  • Six bodies have been recovered. Rescuers will be faced with high waves and strong currents
  • Debris that looks like the plane’s tail has been found
  • Rescue teams have yet to locate the main wreckage
  • Lion Air has released the names of the captain, co-pilot and crew. The captain was Bhavye Suneja who is a resident of Jakarta, originally from New Delhi, India who had accumulated 6,000 fight hours. The co-pilot Harvino had more than 5,000 flight hours. The cabin crew were Shintia Melina, Citra Noivita Anggelia, Alviani Hidayatul Solikha, Damayanti Simarmata, Mery Yulianda, and Deny Maula
  • Debris have been discovered. Search for the black box and main wreckage are on-going
  • They have found handbags, clothing, cellphones, ID cards, drivers licenses, etc
  • A total of 20 of the passengers were Indonesian officials, according to the finance department
  • The plane crashed, 13 minutes after takeoff. According to Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency (SAR), the passengers includes 1 child and 2 infants, 6 crew members and 2 pilots
  • The plane took off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Jakarta at 0621 Hours (local time)
  • Reports are surfacing about a Lion Air Boeing 737 Max 8 passenger plane carrying 189 passengers on board crashing into the sea, shortly after taking off from the capital, Jakarta, Indonesia
